About the programme

Sustainable Food & Drink helps Scottish food and drink small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) improve their business competitiveness by managing their carbon emissions.

Sustainable Food & Drink is the working title for “Supporting SMEs within Scotland’s Food and Drink Sector”, a project jointly funded by European Regional Development Fund (project reference: LUPS/ERDF/2008/2/1/0380) and SEEKIT (reference: SEEKIT/09/003).

The programme is delivered by a dedicated team at Glasgow Caledonian University.

As Sustainable Food & Drink receives public funding, most of the assistance available is free of charge to eligible businesses. Support available to eligible businesses covers a broad range of issues but includes carbon footprinting, assistance in applying for funding, help with energy and waste management, guidance on renewable energy technologies and carbon offsetting. The full range of support available can be viewed here.

Sustainable Food & Drink works with companies to ensure our support is tailored to each individual company’s needs and is delivered at the best pace for each company. Eligible businesses are able to decide the approach they take and when, how, and how often they engage with the Programme.

About the Team

The programme is delivered by a dedicated team of environmental advisers based within Glasgow Caledonian University's School of Engineering and Built Environemt and can offer advice and support on a range of topics, such as carbon management, renewable energy technologies, food technology, and product design.
