CIPD Report on Successful Staff Engagement Strategies & Outcomes

27/01/2012

A brief synopsis of a report from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) looking at staff engagement strategies in different organisations, their outcomes and impacts.

Most sustainability or carbon reduction plans contain an action called “Awareness campaign”.  Employee based projects can be very successful in reducing energy use, waste or moving to more sustainable transport means and the reality is that companies rely on their employees to make the change.  Good employee engagement strategies can result in up to 15% reduction in carbon emissions for companies and that there worthwhile getting right.

Employee engagement is perhaps more of an art than a science, and it is clear that in any company or organisation there is a spectrum of engagement.  Whether your company strategy is to engage staff in sustainability, health and safety or improving quality, how the process of engagement is carried out is vital.

The CIPD published a report from a two-year research project, from the Kingston Employee Engagement Consortium Project, that: analysed levels of engagement across eight different organisations;  offers strategies for engagement; and provides insights into the outcomes of engagement.
