Great Progress Towards the Food & Drink Federation’s Five Fold Environmental Ambition

The Food & Drink Federation released an update on the Industry’s progress towards the revised targets (2010) for its Five Fold Environmental Ambition.

  • Cut carbon emissions cut by 25% against a 35% target by 2020 (1990 baseline)
  • Supply chain waste reduced by 6.9% against a 5% target for 2012 (2009 baseline)
  • Carbon impact of packaging cut by 1.2% against a 10% target for 2012 (2009 baseline)
  • Process water consumption cut by 5.3% against a 20% target by 2020 (2007 baseline), and
  • Eliminated 163 million HGV miles, against a target of 200 million between 2007-2012.
